What Is Email Marketing?
As an online business owner, you’ve probably started hearing about this “email marketing” thing as a way to grow your business.
So, today’s blog post is all about helping you understand what it is and what it isn't.
What is email marketing?
Email marketing is using emails as a way to your potential clients and customers (aka: your list or list subscribers).
It is a direct type of marketing.
The goal of email marketing is simple: build a targeted email list that you have a warmed up relationship with
The gist of email marketing is this:
+ Use the right email list service provider (Mailchimp, Aweber, Infusionsoft)
+ Writing awesome and valuable content to build your relationship
+ Email consistently
+ Promote your services or offers to your email list
Email marketing is NOT spamming your list, bullying them to buy your stuff, or wasting their time.
Email marketing is so much more than just sending out a bunch of emails to random email addresses.
It is much more personal. It’s your way of connecting with your audience and allowing them to get to know you better.
To be really successful at email marketing, you must get comfortable and good at sending personalized targeted messages.
How you accomplish this is by paying attention to who is opening your emails, clicking your links inside your emails, and seeing who’s engaged (you can see all this information by checking out your email metrics).
Why you should do email marketing
Sending regular and valuable emails to your list can create sales opportunities, build up your customer loyalty, and show-off your expertise. It’s a win-win situation.
If you feel intimidated at getting the ball rolling with your own email marketing, then I recommend getting started with a monthly newsletter.
Share what’s going on behind-the-scenes of your business. Talk about what you’re working on. Invite them to follow you on social media.
Don’t worry about trying to be perfect or professional. Or be like your business crush. Just be you.
